| EPF & AFPPD attend WHO Consultation on advocacy on Reproductive, Maternal & Child Health |
From 14th until 16th May EPF Secretary Neil Datta and AFPPD Executive Director Shiv Khare were pleased to attend the WHO Technical Consultation Meeting on Advocacy for Reproductive, Maternal and Child Health in Glion, Switzerland. In the 3 days of meetings over 50 participants from the global CSO community, along with representatives of donor and partner governments, met to discuss ways to influence health sector policies and programmes at the national and local levels.
The sessions they attended covered a variety of issues relevant to Reproductive, Maternal & Child Health advocacy ranging from “Identifying a Framework on the determinants of attention for public health issues in low-income countries” to “Assessing Impact and Monitoring Performance.” EPF Secretary Neil Datta also gave a presentation about the value of parliamentary study tours for changing the position of policy-makers on R-, M- and C-H issues.
The event as a whole proved very productive for the wide array of actors present, and EPF enjoyed the opportunity to be part of negotiations at the WHO for the issues relating to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. |
