EPF President appointed vice chairman of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly
On 9th July at a meeting in Monaco EPF President (and vice-chairman of the Georgian Parliament) George Tsereteli, MP, was appointed vice chairman of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. Representatives of the United States, Germany and France also became the vice-presidents. Meanwhile representative of Italy Riccardo Migliori, MP, was elected to become President of the assembly. The new leadership of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will serve until 2015.
The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is one of the bodies of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. The primary task of the 320-member Assembly is to facilitate inter-parliamentary dialogue, an important aspect of the overall effort to meet the challenges of democracy throughout the OSCE area. The Parliamentary Assembly was originally established by the 1990 Paris Summit to promote greater involvement in the OSCE by national parliaments of the participating States. By passing resolutions and issuing formal recommendations to participating States, it aims to assess the implementation of OSCE objectives by participating States

The EPF Secretariat is delighted with President Tsereteli’s appointment, and hopes that the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will benefit from the support, enthusiasm and great leadership he brings to EPF.
