IEPFPD Central and East European Roundtable
Warsaw, Poland, 15 July 2002

Parliamentarians from Bulgaria, Lithuania, Poland, Austria and the IEPFPD Executive Committee met in the Polish ‘Sejm’ (Lower House) on 15 July 2002 to discuss sexual and reproductive health and rights in Central and East Europe and how to go about improving the situation through parliamentary advocacy. The Honourable Izabela Jaruga-Nowacka, Poland’s Plenipotentiary on Equality opened the meeting. The Austrian Parliamentary Group presented their method of working on a cross party basis and in partnership with NGOs as secretariat to a parliamentary group. Lithuanian and Polish parliamentarians present announced that they would create parliamentary groups to join the IEPFPD. This Roundtable was made possible with the generous support of the AFPPD.
