Global Regional Parliamentary Networks host Population session at 4th meeting of the Parliamentary Network of the World Bank

The Regional Parliamentary Networks on Population and Development from Asia, the Americas and Europe (AFPPD, IAPG and IEPFPD) co-hosted a session on population and development at the Fourth Annual meeting of the Parliamentary Network of the World Bank. Attended by over 30 parliamentarians from all over the world, the event was Chaired by Senator Sukavejworakit (Thailand) from AFPPD with presentations from Guatemalan MP and from Tony Worthington, MP (UK) and Magda De Meyer, MP (Belgium). Tony Worthington, MP underlined the need to place the fight against HIV/AIDS squarely in a sexual and reproductive health context and recalled Dr Steven Sinding’s (IPPF Director General) call for the new US pledged USD 15 Billion to HIV/AIDS funding to not be burdened with the Gag Rule restrictions.
